Welcome To The

Courtfield Gardens Community

A beautiful private garden in the heart of Courtfield Gardens (West), South Kensington

History

Courtfield Gardens stands on what was once, according to records from the 16th century, ‘a large, open meadow’, known as Great Courtfield. It is described as being surrounded by fertile land and small farms and was part of a parcel of land that stretched from the present Cromwell Road to The Old Brompton Road.

The Community

The garden square is a distinctively British style of design, providing a communal green space and garden in a residential area. The Royal Borough has more than one hundred garden squares. Consult RBKC.gov.uk for legislation regulating garden squares.
